Creamy Protein Shake for Extra Energy by Lisa Cohen Fitness

This delicious recipe is from our friend Lisa Cohen, thanks Lisa! She recommended it for extra holiday energy but the holidays are over and we are finding we need a boost of energy to get back into our routine and kick off the New Year! We love this healthy, delicious shake to give us a boost of energy any time!

"So the name of this recipe might not give you the image of a very healthy drink, but trust me, it is packed with goodness and tastes amazing, like dessert in a glass!  To make this rich flavor I use a combination of banana, almond butter, and madjool dates.  This "milkshake" is the perfect sweet treat and is an awesome way to start the day or replenish glycogen levels post workout.  The combination of carbohydrate and potassium from the banana, fructose from the dates and protein from the almond butter make this a perfect choice after intense exercise.  Because of it's high fiber content it will also help to stabilize blood sugar levels, keeping you sustained and energized for longer."

1 ½ cups almond milk
2 Madjool Dates
1 heaping tbsp hemp seeds or brown rice protein powder
1 banana (frozen is best)
1 tbsp almond butter
5 cubes of ice
¼ tsp vanilla extract
pinch of cinnamon

Place all ingredients into a Vita Mix or blender and blend until smooth.
