Charlotte Howie's Bat Mitzvah

The Tradition of the Bat Mitzvah started in 1922, it signifies a time of liberal movements and equal rights for women. In the Jewish tradition, 13 is a time that a young person formally assumes religious obligations. They acquire the corresponding right to lead services, read from the Torah publicly, and are counted in the quorum for a Minyan. This is a time at which a young woman takes responsibility for her actions. Charlotte will lead us in this special service on her Bat Mitzvah.
