Dylan Hart's Bat Mitzvah

The Tradition of the Bat Mitzvah started in 1922, it signifies a time of liberal movements and equal rights for women. In the Jewish tradition, 13 is a time that a young person formally assumes religious obligations. They acquire the corresponding right to lead services, read from the Torah publicly, and are counted in the quorum for a Minyan. This is a time at which a young woman takes responsibility for her actions. Dylan will lead us in this special service on her Bat Mitzvah.

Yom Kippur

Yom Kippur begins at sundown on Tuesday September 22. This year we are holding services at The Little Nell Hotel in AspenColorado

We are so excited to be welcoming Cantor Michal Rubin to help us with our services. Cantor Michal was a Cantor of a conservative synagogue in Columbia SC for the past 12 years. Of these 12 years she spent six of them as a cantorial student with Aleph and six as an ordained Chazzan. She has also served as a clergy, educator, an officiant and leader of many rituals at her synagogue. She has led High Holiday services (Rosh Hashanah and Yom kippur) for 12 years and was instrumental in programming them. And, of course, she led services during all the other holidays; taught a variety of classes as well as numerous Bar/Bat Mitzvah students.

Join Neshama Center and Cantor Michal Rubin for Yom Kippur Services:
Kol Nidre Evening Service- September 22 at 6:00pm

Kol Nidre

Definition:  Kol Nidre

Tradition: Kol Nidre (the first prayer recited on the eve of Yom Kippur) serves to annul all existing vows and prepare us to begin the New Year with a clean slate. The Al Chet prayer enumerates the specific ways we have missed the mark.

Suggestion: Take some time to re-evaluate your participation in the community. Try to be more conscious of how you spend your time and money. Do your calendar and checkbook reflect your values and priorities?
